The water is safe to drink for all those 6 years of age and older. The City of Ingleside is following EPA guidelines (2015 Drinking Water health Advisories for Two Cyanobacterial Toxins) and taking the necessary precautions suggested by the EPA. There are no EPA adopted regulatory limits for these constituents. We work from health advisories for these issues.
At this point we are recommending a City Wide “Do Not Drink the Water” for certain “affected persons.” “Affected persons” are children under the age of 6 years old and anyone with a compromised immune system. For “affected persons,” this includes making ice cubes, food preparation (do not boil water, it will not help), brushing teeth or any other activity involving ingestion of water. This Order shall remain in effect until further notice.
The whole City can still take showers, do laundry, and wash dishes; this includes those under the age of 6 years old.
The City is providing 2 gallons of water per day per “affected person.” Citizens of Ingleside can pick up water at the Ingleside Volunteer Fire Department located at 2425 8th Street, Ingleside, TX 78362 as scheduled below:
Weekdays: 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
