Summary of Position
The City of Ingleside is currently accepting applications for the position of Meter Reader. Education: High School/GED. Must be able to get a Water D Certification in one year. The job duties include install, repair, and maintains city water system and reports possible hazards; reads and records water meter readings. Knowledge of the water and sewer lines and meter locations; light and heavy equipment operation and safety procedures; pump maintenance; customer relations; and standard safety procedures. The position will require on call status. Required License includes appropriate Texas driver’s license or available alternate means of transportation. Physical requirements include must be able to lift and carry up to fifty (50) pounds and push/pull/drag up to one hundred (100) pounds of material; work in wet and muddy areas and trenches to a depth of twenty-five (25) feet; climb elevated structures to a height of fifty (50) feet; walk, climb, kneel, squat, stoop, bend and twist for extended periods of time; walk long distances while reading meters; work indoors and outdoors in extreme temperatures including heat, cold and/or wet weather.
