Summary of Position

The City of Ingleside is currently accepting applications for the position of Code Enforcement Officer.  Education required: Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent; one year experience related to inspection, law enforcement,  building  inspection,  land  use,  public  administration   or  a  related  field,  or  any equivalent combination of education and experience.  Must possess a valid State driver’s license or have the ability to obtain one prior to employment.  Must be able to obtain Registered Code Enforcement Officer status with the State of Texas at the end of a one year Code Enforcement officer in training period.  If you are already a Code Enforcement Officer with the State of Texas you must provide current licensing information as well as the status of any continuing education needed to maintain your registration.  The candidate will perform a variety of routine and complex work in the interpretation and enforcement of adopted codes and related rules and regulations.  Some knowledge of code enforcement principles, practices and methods as applicable to a municipal setting; working knowledge of applicable laws, standards and regulations relating to various  land   use,   nuisance   and   public   safety   codes;   working   knowledge   of  inspection techniques; Some knowledge of Geographic Information Systems and their use within a municipal entity environment.  Ability  to  communicate  effectively  orally  and  in writing;   Ability to speak publicly and answer questions within a public venue; Ability to establish and maintain effective working   relationships   with   citizens, employees, supervisors and the general public; Ability to handle stressful situations and effectively deal with difficult or angry people.  Physical requirements include must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.   Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
