Interim Police Chief Appointed

The City of Ingleside is pleased to announce that Brent Stroman has been appointed as the Interim Police Chief, effective Friday, August 18.

Mr. Stroman retired in 2016 as Police Chief of Waco, Texas after serving in that capacity for almost ten years.  He started his career in 1977 as a graduate of the Waco Police Academy and after serving in various command positions, was promoted to Assistant Chief in 1993 where he served until 2007 when he was promoted to the position of Chief.

In 1997, Brent was selected to attend the FBI National Academy as well as the Senior Management Institute for Police in 2001 sponsored by the Police Executive Research Forum held at Boston University.  In 2003, Brent was selected to attend the Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar conducted by the FBI Academy.  In addition, Brent served as Adjunct Instructors for both Tarleton State University and McLennan Community College.

Brent holds a Masters in Public Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Police Administration.  He has a Texas Master Peace Officer’s Certification from T.C.O.L.E. as well as a Police Instructor’s Certificate and was a Texas Representative for Police Chiefs and Sheriffs on the FBI’s Policy Advisory Board Western Working Group and is a member of the Texas Police Chief’s Association having served on the Executive Board.  Over the course of his career, he has been actively involved in the Waco community by serving on the Advocacy Center for Crime Victims and Children, the Bill Logue Juvenile Justice Center Local Advisory Board as well as the WISD Adopt-a-School Advisory Board.  He was also the recipient of the Boy Scouts Silver Eagle for his work in Scouting.

“Chief Stroman’s very successful career in Waco will allow him to effectively translate this experience to the Ingleside Police Department,” said Melissa Byrne Vossmer, Ingleside City Manager.  “I believe this experience will be to the benefit of both the Police Department and residents of the Ingleside community in the coming months until a new Police Chief is in place.”  It is anticipated that recruiting and hiring a Police Chief for Ingleside will take 4 to 5 months.
