INGLESIDE FIRE CHIEF IS TEXAS FIREFIGHTER OF THE YEAR!

The Ingleside Volunteer Fire Department proudly announces that Chief StevenLoving has been selected by the Texas State Firefighters’ & Fire Marshals’ Association as the award winner forFirefighter of the Year. With over 1,200 departments and over 22,000 firefighters, this statewide association represents, career, volunteer, and industrial firefighters and EMS personnel. Chief Loving was nominated at his department level for the various contributions to the community and the department throughout the year, including managing response operations through the Hurricane Harvey incident and recovery efforts. His nomination was then forwarded to the South Central District Firefighters’ Association, a 9-county district, which is one of many zones throughout the state. His nomination was then forwarded to a state level committee who reviewed each application and narrowed it down to several finalists before he was chosen as the Firefighter of the Year for 2017-2018. Chief Loving will represent the State of Texas for the 2018 National Volunteer Firefighter Council Firefighter of the Year.
Chief Loving was recognized at a June 24, 2018 State Convention in Arlington at the Annual SFFMA Training Conference and Convention.
Loving began his career with Ingleside Volunteer Fire Department in 1987. He serves as Ingleside Volunteer Fire Department Chief, San Patricio County Fire Marshal, and a Sergeant Investigator with the San Patricio County Sheriff’s Office. Chief Loving has also served with the Aransas Pass Fire Department and Tri-County EMS.
Chief Loving’s wife, son, and daughter are all firefighters with Ingleside Fire Department as well.

Statement For Immediate Release
On 2 November 2017 the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Kidde Corp. announced a recall of affecting 40 million fire extinguishers manufactured between 1973 and August 2017.
The Ingleside Fire Department urges all citizens to visit either the Kidde or CSPC websites for information on the affected extinguishers. (see links below)

Our members are made up of local citizens who are dedicated to their community. The volunteers make a commitment to respond to any emergency situation that is dispatched from the communications center. If you are considering giving something back to your community and firefighting interests you, please feel free to come by the Fire Department or give us a call at 776-7422. Our members hold a weekly meeting at 7:00 p. m. on Tuesdays and our doors are always open.
We proudly serve a fast growing residential community in South Texas. We operate out of one station that protects our primary response area of approximately 16 square miles and protects a population of over 12,000 residents. Our department is a public department whose members are volunteers and we have an ISO rating of 3.
